Frequently Asked Questions
Q) Who can benefit from massage therapy?
A) Just about everyone! Throughout one's life cycle—from early childhood to later in life and in-between—professional massage therapy provides benefits for people of all ages.
Q) When might massage therapy be inappropriate?
A) People who are suffering from certain circulatory ailments, infectious diseases, certain forms of cancer, cardiac problems, certain skin conditions, or any inflamed or infected tissues should consult a physician first. Your massage therapist also will be able to tell you when massage is, or is not, recommended.
Q) What should I expect when I receive a massage for the first time?
A) You will be asked questions about the reasons for getting a massage, current physical condition, medical history, lifestyle, stress level, and experience with specific areas of pain.
Q) Do I need to undress for my massage?
A) This varies based upon your individual needs. For your peace of mind, undressing will take place in private and you will lie on a comfortable table. We provide appropriate coverings for warmth and modesty. Only the part of your body being massaged will be exposed at any time.
Q) How long does a massage session last?
A) Most sessions last between 75 and 90 minutes, however, depending on individual needs, the session could be as short as an hour or as long as two hours.
